  • Please put cell phones on silent.

  • Mute mic unless you are speaking.

  • Disagree respectfully and take turns speaking.

  • Please honor confidentiality (don’t mention names).  If confidentiality is broken administration will intervene.

  • Public comments will be taken at the end (2 min. Per person)

 

Topics to be Discussed:

  1. Welcome, Norms & Roll Call

    • The norms of the meeting were outlined in detail by the chair Diane Mangum. As a reminder the 5 bullet points above were laid out so that participants, would understand, and respect the decorum of the meeting. Roll call was conducted by the chair Diane Mangum for SOT members.

  2. SOT Elections

    • SOT positions (Chairperson, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Parliamentarian) were reviewed for the upcoming SOT term. Parent Nominations are in progress this week ending on 9/16/22. Parent Elections will take place starting on 9/19/22 – 9/23/22. Selected members will be selected during week of 9/26/22.

  3. Title I Review

    • As a Title I school, Scott is required to have focus on family engagement.

    • Parents wanted to know how funds are were being distributed within the school community. Bullying prevention was a major concern.

    • Parents were encouraged to participate in academic nights held throughout the year. It was mentioned that 1 Students Teacher Academic Planning time slot is held each school year.

  4. Budgets and Staffing

    • We currently have a $5,000,000 budget. As a result Roseman spoke briefly about where “carry over money” comes from and how it is being used.

    • In terms of class size 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade have topped out. Currently we are down about 11 to 12 teachers. As a result we are looking to schools who have an abundance of staff in an effort to retain more licensed staff. from surplus.

  5. Fundraisers at Scott

    • Fundraising at Café Zuppas was a success and we were able to raise about $800. With these funds Roseman stated that stated that student incentives would be purchased from these funds.

    • New fundraiser next Wednesday, September 21st at Buffalo Wild Wings

  6. School Data

    • Data was not mentioned during this meeting. Roseman did talk briefly about the 5th grade STEM opportunity. She mentioned that since this program is located in Henderson it would be important that students focus on behavior in order to continue in the future.

  7. Public Comments

    • Kelli McGruder asked “I believe we have a basketball team. Will we have a team that plays against other elementary schools?”
      Roseman replied, “Let me check into that. I believe we do.
      Ms. Brandi Brown responded, “We will have a team for next semester. In order to participate they must be a part of the after school program. If you are interested we have brochures in the front office.”

The School Organizational Team may take items on the agenda out of order, combine two or more agenda items for consideration, and remove an item from the agenda or delay discussion relating to items on the agenda at any time.

 

Speakers wishing to speak during the public comment period for this meeting may sign up in person immediately prior to the beginning of the meeting. Speakers will be called in the order in which they signed up. No one may sign up for another person or yield their time to another person. Generally, a person wishing to speak during the comment period will be allowed two (2) inutes to address the School Organizational Team. Speakers may also submit additional comments in writing.  It is asked that speakers be respectful to each other, Team members, the principal and school district staff. Speakers that are  disruptive will be asked to leave the meeting.
