Morning Drop-off Procedures

The parking lot at the front of the school will be closed for any morning traffic from 7:30 AM until 8:05 AM. Students and families must carefully follow the instructions below to ensure the safety of all students and staff members.

First through fifth graders who arrive on campus by car will enter campus from the Parent Loop gate at the corner of Ann Road and Bruce Street. Car drivers will form a square line around the parent parking lot to drop off and ensure safety for all students entering the gate. Once students enter through the gate, they will walk towards the Sunray where they will meet their teacher for morning greetings. Students who are Kindergarten, Pre-K, and Special Education car riders will enter through the kindergarten gate on El Campo Grande Avenue. Older siblings who accompany their Kindergarten, Pre-K, or Special Education siblings will walk around the building to their teachers at the Sunray. School buses will use the “kiss and go” loop located off of Bruce Street, so parents are not allowed to use that loop for drop-off or pick-up. Walkers and bike riders will enter campus through the front gate onto the blacktop that leads to the Sunray/playground. Bike riders and scooter riders will store their bikes and scooters in the bike rike gate near the portables. Please walk your bikes and scooters onto campus.

Student Arrival Procedures

Supervision on the campus playground begins at 7:40 AM, and the gates will open for student arrival with adult supervision. Only students who attend Safekey will be able to arrive on campus before 7:40 AM. Since no adult supervision is available before 7:40 AM, students who are dropped off before that time will be sent to Safekey, and parents/guardians will be responsible for the cost of childcare. Parents must remain outside of the school gates during arrival and dismissal. The first bell rings at 7:40 AM to signal that the playground gates will open. The second bell rings at 7:45 AM to signal students to line up with their teacher on the Sunray. The teachers will meet the students at the assigned line on the sunray for morning greetings. Teachers will escort them to the cafeteria to pick up breakfast and proceed to class where students will watch the morning video announcements.

Afternoon Pick-up Procedures

The parking lot at the front of the school will be closed for any afternoon traffic from 2:00 PM until 2:30 PM. Students and families must carefully follow the instructions below to ensure the safety of all students and staff members.

All families will receive a Parent PBIS Pick-Up Pass in the mail before the first day of school that includes a barcode that is unique for each student. This document must be kept in the car and will be used for afternoon pick-up. (Families that need a replacement Parent PBIS Pick-Up Pass will need to visit the front office to show ID for verification.) Parents/guardians of first through fifth graders will enter the parent parking lot on Ann Road and Bruce Street to form a two-laned square line around the parking lot. Cars must display the Parent PBIS Pick-Up Pass for each student being picked up in the windshield of their vehicle. Staff members will scan and use this information to communicate which child to have ready at the gate for pick-up. Staff members will not release students to a car that does not have a Parent PBIS Pick-Up Pass displayed in the car. Kindergarten will be released to parents from the Kindergarten gates on El Campo Grande Avenue. If your kindergarten, Pre-K, or Special Education car rider student has an older sibling at the school, that child may meet them at the kindergarten playground after dismissal. School buses will use the “kiss and go" loop, so parents are not allowed to use the loop for pick-up. Walkers and biker riders will exit through the front gate from the blacktop that leads to the Sunray and playground.

In extreme inclement weather cases, the school will send out communication about a modified procedure.

Sibling Connections

If you have an older child who will pick up a younger student, make the teacher aware, and we will coordinate the connection within the building.
